Rocky Spring

This past weekend Craig was working out of town, so, the girls and I picked up donuts and headed to Raymond to take Juju and Papaw Larry for a day trip to Rocky Springs. Now, this was my moms first and possibly only trip to Rocky Springs. Keep reading to the end to see why! As many times as my dad took my brother and I camping there when we were little, mom never went. I realize now - she was enjoying peace and quiet at home!
Beneath the "troll" bridge. No trolls here!

We walked the trails, played in the creek, and collected rocks. Tenley liked the big rocks best!

Crossing a fallen tree along the trail.
We visited the old town site and the Rocky Springs United Methodist Church. While there Brooke preached to us a little and then said "Okay, everyone please stand." She led us in a few songs, just like papaw Larry does. Tenley danced through most of it!
We also visited the waterfall, or lack there of.
It was barely flowing, but impressive at the same time.

Okay - why mom may never go back to Rocky Springs:

Look closely and you will see the copperhead that Brooke stepped over and mom almost put her hand on while getting into the creek. Thank goodness it was asleep and just sunning! Dad threw it into the woods with his walking stick, and then we told mom about it. She never saw it! I had nightmares about it on Saturday night.
